Capcom confirm that Resident Evil: Outbreak will ship without online support when released in Europe…

Itâs been the subject of much rumour and speculation during the last few months, however Capcom today officially confirmed that Resident Evil: Outbreak will not feature online support when released in Europe.

Citing the differences in network infrastructure as the reason why; Resident Evil: Outbreak will offer a single-player only experience in Europe, allowing the player to select a character from the eight available and providing two further AI characters to assist in your quest.

âCapcom has worked hard to try and provide PAL gamers with online play for Resident Evil Outbreak but there are far more technical difficulties bringing an online game to PAL territories than to Japan or the US, the most obvious of which are the different languages and service providers found in each territory,â claimed Ben Le Rougetel, Senior PR Manager Capcom Eurosoft. âThis said, Capcom is working hard to overcome these difficulties and right now a number of engineers from our Japanese office are in Europe talking to various ISPs and we hope that it will only be a number of months before we have an online PS2 game up and running.â

Resident Evil: Outbreak is scheduled for a European release in September; weâll have a closer look soon.
