The first specific details emerge on the final Resident Evil title to grace the Playstation2...
Despite being a GameCube exclusive franchise, Playstation2 owners will see one final Resident Evil title gracing their machine next year. Murmurings of Resident Evil Online have sporadically popped up throughout the last year, however recently the first specific information on the title emerged from Japan.
Currently in development exclusively for the Playstation2, the title will make use of the PS2 Broadband Kit. From what we can gather the title will see groups of four players take on the zombies and members of the Umbrella corporation in a title thatās sounds very similar to Phantasy Star Online. Eight playable characters are available to choose from, reportedly including a policeman, a war hero, a female journalist and a Japanese tourist. Its claimed that no previous Resident Evil characters will make it into this game.
The game takes place in Racoon City, and will see players trying to unite in a group as their first quest.
No mention has been made as to where this game features in the Resident Evil timeline, however weāre hoping that more information and hopefully the first decent screens will emerge soon.
Resident Evil Online is scheduled for a Japanese release next year, however no comment has yet been made for a Western release.
