Resident Evil 5 Targets Simultaneous Release News

Capcom's Kenji Inafune wants Resident Evil to become multi-format franchise...
Kenji Inafune's recent comments to Dorimage offshoot, Xbox360ism, have highlighted Capcom's intentions to release Resident Evil 5 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation3 simultaneously.
"We want to grow the Resident Evil series into a multi-platform franchise, so we hope to release it simultaneously," Inafune claimed. "But since we don't know the launch period for the PS3 yet, so it's hard to say."
The comment suggests that Capcom have grown wary on the one-format strategy behind the Resident Evil franchise and that fans of the Xbox 360 and PS3 will have further titles to look forward to; whether or not we'll see the series making a reappearance on a Nintendo home format however remains unknown, although the prospect of zombie hunting with the Revolution's controller is appealing.
Given the widely held belief that Sony will launch the Playstation3 during spring 2006 (in Japan at least), also suggests that Capcom are looking at a similar timeframe to release Resident Evil 5 - unless the original assumption of the spring launch is wrong!
