Red Octane Confirms Wireless Guitar News

The rock gods have answered our prayers as Red Octane announces a wireless guitar peripheral...

Red Octane has today confirmed that a wireless guitar peripheral will be released to coincide with the US launch of Guitar Hero II in November.

The guitar, which will of course be compatible with both instalments of the series, will go on sale in the United States with a recommended retail price of $59.99 (£31.60). Confirmation of its release in the UK is yet to be made by Red Octane or Activision.

"RedOctane has long been committed to offering high-quality videogame accessories for gamers," said Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing at RedOctane. "Being able to give our fans an option to rock the wireless guitar controller was definitely a priority for us, and it'll provide another exciting experience for players to achieve rock star status!"

Although Red Octane has only announced the wireless guitar for the PlayStation2 version of Guitar Hero II, it's surely an indication that a similar move will be made for the 2007 release of the game on Xbox 360.

We'll have more news shortly...
