Nearly three years after originally being announced, Rebellion confirms that it's working a sequel to Eidos' Shellshock: 'Nam 67...
UK-based development studio has confirmed that it's making the jump to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2008 with Shellshock 2, a sequel to the 2004 shooter Shellshock: 'Nam 67, for Eidos.
Speaking to Gamesindustry.biz, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley commented: "It's very much a mature product, it's a bit like Jacob's Ladder or Apocalypse Now in movie terms. It's troubling - deliberately so - it's meant to be challenging the nature of war, the horror and why people do these horrific things to each other...It'll be our first next-gen title, which is slightly nervewracking, but it's looking absolutely lovely."
The original game, released on Xbox and PlayStation 2 and developed by Guerrilla Games (Killzome), was largely derided at the time although it exceeded expectations at retail by selling around 800,000 copies. News of the sequel comes three years after Eidos confirmed that Shellshock 2 was in the works, just months before rival Britsoft publisher SCi Entertainment won the battle for the House of Lara.
