The Crackdown studio secures an additional $50 million of investment as the development of APB continues...
Scottish studio, Realtime Worlds has today revealed that it has signed a deal for $50 million of 'Series B' investment from venture capitalists, New Enterprise Associates and WPP. The additional funding is set to help the development studio expand its current operations.
The outfit is currently working on All Points Bulletin (APB), and online version of Cops and Robbers for Xbox 360 and PC, and will be the second title released by the studio under their 'Realtime Worlds' guise, following the 2007 release of Crackdown.
"Securing funding of this size from partners that are leading the financial and marketing communications industries further affirms Realtime Worlds' position as one of the most creative, respected and successful game development companies in the world," said David Jones, founder and CEO, Realtime Worlds.
"Since our founding, we have been fortunate to have some of the gaming industry's top creative talent crafting amazing, groundbreaking interactive entertainment products. With this new infusion of capital, Realtime Worlds is poised to deliver new original experiences to gamers around the globe and to push the boundaries of online gaming."
Today's news comes two years after the studio secured $31 million worth of investment, also from New Enterprise Associates.
