EA and DICE have decided not to charge players for additional weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company...

EA and DICE have decided to scrap plans to charge players for additional weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company. This follows revelations from the game's invitational multiplayer beta, where it became apparent that 5 weapons would only be available to owners of the Gold Edition game, or as DLC that players would be charged for.

While owners of the Gold Edition of the game will still get the additional weapons out of the box under the new plans, those playing with the standard copy of Battlefield: Bad Company will now be able unlock the weapons once they've reached the maximum rank in the game (which is 25). The priced DLC option will no longer be made available upon the game's release in June.

This follows an uprising across the net from Battlefield fans who were disgruntled at the decision to charge players for the additional weapons. Battlefield: Bad Company's Senior Producer, Karl-Magnus Troedsson, clarified the new setup for the 5 additional weapons to Gamespot:

"DICE is built upon the multiplayer community, and we do listen to what people say out there. When we saw this big uprise . . . we just decided that all weapons will be free in the game, and that's how it is now."
