Pokemon Fire Red - First Screen News

The first screen from Nintendo's recently announced duo of remakes...

When whispers of two new projects that Nintendo claimed both would be million-plus sellers, our interest certainly peeked. News of a new Nintendo franchise has been booted around for the last couple of months, so hope was high that the mighty N would introduce an original concept to restore its proud heritage.

So imagine our dismay when we learnt late last week that the games would be none other then remakes of âPokemon Redâ and âPokemon Greenâ, released way back in 1997 on the GameBoy Color â“ way to go Nintendo.

Itâs believed that both âPokemon Fire Redâ and âPokemon Leaf Greenâ will contain a number of new surprises and connectivity to âPokemon Ruby/Sapphireâ and the forthcoming âPokemon Coleseumâ, whilst Western fans can take some solace in the fact that âPokemon Greenâ never saw a release outside of Japan.

As you can see from the first screen to emerge, the game benefits from very few visual enhancements upon the original and looks very similar to âPokemon Ruby/Sapphireâ.

On the flip side of the coin both âPokemon Rubyâ and âPokemon Sapphireâ have once again sold in unbelievable amounts, proving that Pokemonâs popularity hasnât dwindled over the years; perhaps itâs just another sign of Nintendoâs shrewd business decisions, however we canât help thinking whereâs the first true Pokemon GameCube title gone to???

Is there a way to catch Mew in this game? Without using a GameShark or any other cheating device?
