Weekend sales figures show that Sony's monolith is the fastest selling home console in the UK - ever...
Despite waves of negative publicity in the run up to its release, Sony's PlayStation3 has become the fastest-selling home console in UK video-gaming, with over 165,000 units sold over the first two days.
What's more is that a number of PlayStation3 exclusive titles have managed to dominate the All Format Full Price UK Top 10, with Ridge Racer 7 at number 10, Formula One: Championship Edition at number 6, and Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man occupying the second and first positions respectively. The launch of PS3 is also likely behind a resurgence for Activision's Call of Duty 3, which leapt from number 14 to number 5.
The positions of the PlayStation3 titles are in stark contrast to the Xbox 360's launch back in December 2005, which saw the number one title for the platform at launch (Rare's Perfect Dark Zero) managing to reach number 12 -Bizarre Creations' PGR3 appeared at number 16.
Incidentally, the fastest-selling handheld or home console in the UK was Sony's PSP, which launched in September 2005 with over 185,000 units - perhaps a cautionary example that early success doesn't necessarily translate into long term success?

there is a page for the 360 and for the wii, why cant people go multi format.
