Phantom Crash - New Media News

By Chris Leyton on 01/01/1970 New information, screens and movies FROM this intriguing looking Xbox mech title...

The kind guys at Phantagram sent us over a bunch of new screens and a teaser video from the forthcoming Xbox mech title, Phantom Crash. We’ve also found out some new information on the title due for release in October.

Firstly the game will have three different modes on offer; a Tutorial Mode which teaches you how to control your scoobee (mech) and other essential elements to the game.

The main bulk of the game lies in the single player story led Mission Mode, here players choose a character and a scoobee from those available to make up a team. Each Scoobee (mech) has a variety of moves that are mostly unique to each other; the only similarity is that every Scoobee can go into Stealth mode – Optical Camouflage. Upon selecting your scoobee you can completely customise it to your own style that represents your team.

The tournament varies from battle-to-battle, every time you win a match you’ll gain prize-money, which can be used to buy new scoobee’s or upgrade your existing one. All items within the shop are randomly stored, so if you’ve found a weapon you love there’s no guarantee it’s going to stay around. You can also set up sponsorships with the Parts Shop in order to receive cheap parts. The game features a number of licensed songs, which you have to purchase from the Parts Shop.

The final mode is a 2-4 player split-screen mode, allowing you to pitch your scoobee against your friends for some intense mech combat.

The game contains 3 huge maps, each split up into a number of smaller sections in which you’ll fight. We were told to think along the lines of Metropolis Street Racer and Project Gotham Racer, as an idea for the structure.

We’ve also learnt that Phantom Crash is heading to the PC later in the year, this version is set to have all the functions of the Xbox version plus internet features for up to 16 players.

We’ll have a hands-on of Phantom Crash soon, until then make sure to check out the new screens and trailer from this appealing title.
