Everybody wants to play PSO, even the PC gamers are getting in on the act.
Sega today announced that it's online epic RPG, Phantasy Star Online Ver 2 will be making an appearance on the PC. The game is currently being developed for Windows 98, 2000 and XP and will feature extra enhancements and features.
The game will benefit from improved lighting effects, bump mapping, higher polygon counts, improved textures and double the draw rate, support for 3D positional sound in also being implemented. In order to play this with all extra enhancements you'll need quite a hefty PC, Sega are targeting a Pentium 4 in order to play with all extras.
Chinese and Korean languages have also been added to the language system, bringing the total up to seven, including; Japanese, English, French, German and Spanish.
4 player online play will feature and benefit from being able to dial-up from any Windows connection. The main question is whether Sega plan to allow PC players to interact with Dreamcast and Gamecube players, though to realise Yuji Naka's dream of a truly world-wide experience, Sega must truly be thinking long and hard over this one.
No news on whether the proposed pay-to-play structure will feature. PSO will make its first debut at the upcoming World PC Expo in Japan, running September 19th through to the 21st.
The game is set to be released before the end of the year, until then check out these first ever PC screens.
