The man behind Earthworm Jim, MDK, Messiah and Sacrifice resigns to assist a purchase...
Mentions of Atari's great studio sell-off last week appear to have kicked off in earnest, as today reports of David Perry's resignation from Shiny Entertainment have become apparent.
Speaking to The Orange County Register, Perry reveals that he decided to step down from the company he founded in 1993 as a result of the costs needed to develop next-gen titles, and maintains that Shiny needs an owner who can make this investment.
Perry hopes to ignite a bidding war for the developer, who is believed to be working on three projects including a long-awaited return for Earthworm Jim. Previously Shiny Entertainment netted Interplay $47 million when the company was sold to Atari.
TVG will have more on the future for David Perry shortly...
