SCEJ announce plans to include the functionality that was left out due to time constraints…
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) today announced that they will release a free upgrade disc for the PSX, implementing some of the functionality that was left out due to time constraints.
The disc will include the following upgrades:
- 24x DVD read speed
- Improved HDD speed in SLP mode
- 4x DVD-R writing speed
- TIFF image support
- CD-R and MP3 playback
- Rip MP3 to HDD
- Flash function, fast-forward 15secs.
- Video title sorting
- USB keyboard support
- Bug fixes
In addition SCEJ confirmed that a further upgrade disc will be made available in March, featuring DVD+RW support, GIF image support, CyberShot Camera Animation and Playstation BB support.
The news should certainly come as a welcome relief to those that were concerned by the omissions, and suggests that the PSX will include all of the functionality when it finally receives a release outside of Japan.
