PSP v2.60 Firmware Hacked News
Jon Wilcox
13/01/2006

Homebrew begins to drip through onto the latest firmware update of Sony's handheld...
Constantly having to upgrade the PSP in order to patch exploitable loopholes from Homebrew enthusiasts and hackers must be something of a chore for Sony, and it won't please the company to hear that the latest version of the firmware, version 2.60, (released in North America in November 2005) has already been hacked.
Calling himself 'Fanjita', the hacker has managed to break through Sony's update to offer those inclined to play Tetris on the PSP via GTA: Liberty City Stories - although the crack apparently won't work on the German censored version.
The vicious circle of patch-and-hack in order to allow certain gamers the ability to play unlicensed games is undoubtedly doing a level of harm to Sony, and will more than likely continue the notion of the company as a bully in certain quarters of the PSP community (after Sony banned the import of PSPs before the European launch.)
Although the hack is limited to Tetris it's inevitable that it'll expand in the coming weeks - time to release another firmware update then.
We'll have more news shortly...
