PSP To Be Delayed? News

SCE’s Network Boss tells Japanese publication that the PSP may have to be delayed till next year…

After a whole host of problems and questions being asked of its battery life and its retail price, the PSP now seems to be encountering a new problem â“ software delays.

Speaking to Japanese publication, Impress Watch, Sony Computer Entertainmentâs Network Systems boss, Izumi Kawanishi, admitted that a Christmas release for the PSP really depended on whether any of the games were ready in time.

In the interview, Kawanishi confirmed that development of the platform had begun just before its E3 2003 announcement, which is a good explanation as to why some developers are racing to get games ready in time.

Trying to lighten the atmosphere in the interview, Kawanishi at least offered some more details on some of the added functionality of the PSP. The system can be connected to a PC as an external drive, and will enable users to drag and drop JPEG, mp3 and ATRAC3 files across to it.

With bad news and rumours surrounding the launch of the PSP, we'll have to wait and see what the future holds for Sonyâs plan to dominate the portable console market.

UMD already dead. Sony has nothing to lose by adding
SD stuff on the Blu-ray discs for PSP viewing.

good point but i think i would only pay about $250 and not bother with the touch screen.with mobile tec in there you could play games over the net any time any where but only at a reasonable price of course.

Sony should have added a 40 or 80 gig internal hard drive like the ipod to the psp instead of making it thinner and lighter! With the extra space it would be

JAZZ-1991, what the hell are you talking about? The PSP redesign is 19% slimmer and 33% lighter than the original PSP. The buttons are more responsive, it supports tv out, has twice the RAM. There is no need to make it any smaller, it feels great in ... [ Read full comment... ]
