PSP Store To Grace PSP Browsers??? News

Sony are "thinking about" bringing the PC grounded PSP Store service to, well, the PSP...

Eric Lempel, the Director of Network Operations on the PSP Store, has suggested that there is a distinct possibility of the PSP Store becoming available on the PSP's browser. Speaking to MTV's games blog Multiplayer, Lempel stated that a PSP Store on PSP is "definitely something we're thinking about".

This follows the launch on November 20th of a PSP Store that's accessible via PC. As the situation currently stands, PSP owners can download content such as games, extra content, demos and trailers from the store. However, the PSP Store is only accessible via PC, so PSP gamers must download the content via a USB connection.

Given that the PSP has a browser built into it that allows users to access the net via Wi-Fi connection, a PSP Store on your PSP does seem to be a fairly obvious step. When asked whether PSP owners might be able to do this in future, Lempel commented:

"Clearly that's something we're thinking about. With the capability of the PSP it's something that should be possible, so it's definitely something we're thinking about. It's just a matter of priorities and some technology that we need to make it all work right and make sure the content is delivered securely, just to protect some of our [intellectual properties]. Yeah it's definitely something we're thinking about."

UMD already dead. Sony has nothing to lose by adding
SD stuff on the Blu-ray discs for PSP viewing.

good point but i think i would only pay about $250 and not bother with the touch screen.with mobile tec in there you could play games over the net any time any where but only at a reasonable price of course.

Sony should have added a 40 or 80 gig internal hard drive like the ipod to the psp instead of making it thinner and lighter! With the extra space it would be

JAZZ-1991, what the hell are you talking about? The PSP redesign is 19% slimmer and 33% lighter than the original PSP. The buttons are more responsive, it supports tv out, has twice the RAM. There is no need to make it any smaller, it feels great in ... [ Read full comment... ]
