Chris Deering reveals price plans for games, movies and music and reveals other PSP information...
Speaking at yesterdayâs ELSPA Conference; SCEE President, Chris Deering, revealed a few details on the launch and pricing details of the Sony PSP.
Claiming that it will not be a direct competitor to the GameBoy Advance, Deering claimed that a worldwide release should happen in Q4 2004 for the machine â“ although there might be a slight delay between different territories.
In keeping with handheld tradition, the PSP wonât feature any territorial lockout, however it will include regional encoding for movies, similar to that used on DVDâs.
Deering refused to comment on the actual price, but revealed that games based on the Universal Media Disc (UMD) could retail from anything up to 60 euros (~£41), however the majority would sell for between 20-30 euros (~£14-£21). Further to game prices, Deering revealed that movies on UMD would cost slightly less then DVDâs, and that music albums should retail for under 10 euros (~£7).
