SCEE President suggests the PSP won't be as expensive as people think it will be...

Details on the Sony PSP are slowly beginning to trickle in and give us a better understanding of the device, after the first batch of information given during the formats unveiling at the E3 event.

The latest selection of information has all been in regards to the price of the machine; whilst numerous people have been quick to dismiss the PSP believing that an âall-singing-all-dancingâ handheld which plays music, movies and games will come at a cost, Sony have always stated that the machine will be affordable.

During the machines unveiling, Ken Kuturagi claimed that the PSP will cost between £95-£150; following on after E3, Kuturagi-san admitted that the price of the PSP would surprise many, as the unit used a lot of the technology that has already been researched and manufactured for the Plasytation2.

Recently Chris Deering, President Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), backed these suggestions, claiming in Les Echos that the PSP would likely cost in the same region as the GameBoy Advance.

Naturally weâll wait until closer to the Q4 2002 release date before believing this entirely, however a handheld machine that can play movies, music and games for around £100 would certainly be No.1 on our 2004 wish-list from Santa.

lol an 80 gb psp is not possible unless they use ssd hard drives which cost sh*t loads to buy independantly maybe you should get used to dreaming, though if they stop making any games for it or make a psp that could only get games from the ps3 then y... [ Read full comment... ]

UMD already dead. Sony has nothing to lose by adding
SD stuff on the Blu-ray discs for PSP viewing.

good point but i think i would only pay about $250 and not bother with the touch screen.with mobile tec in there you could play games over the net any time any where but only at a reasonable price of course.

Sony should have added a 40 or 80 gig internal hard drive like the ipod to the psp instead of making it thinner and lighter! With the extra space it would be
