Sony reveals PC software that allows for drag-and-drop file transfer between a computer and the PSP...
Away from games and UMD videos, the multimedia aspects of the PSP has since its release, been the domain of geeks and stubborn sorts who are happy to reassign their video files to strange names and mess around with various folders saved on the Memory Stick of the machine. Aware that such shenanigans have acted as barriers to the handhelds various functionalities, Sony has today announced that for $19.95 (via download) and $29.95 boxed, PSP owners can obtain the PSP Media Manager, which allows for simple and straightforward file transfers between PCs and Sonyâs handheld.
Very much adding a sense of user-friendliness to the task, the Media Manager allows owners to drag and drop files from one system to another, select from a range of compressions, and even offers RSS feed podcast/blog support. The software also allows gamers to transfer game save data onto their PC and other Memory Sticks...

Now, with the release of the new PSP Media Manager software, we're providing Sony technology that lets users easily optimize and transfer their content from the PC to their PSP system using a familiar drag-and-drop interface," says Dave Chaimson, Vice President of Marketing, Sony Media Software. "Whether your source is 16:9 high definition video footage, a collection of photos from your latest vacation, or a PSP formatted publication, this new technology lets you view and share it anywhere you and your PSP system go."
"Since its inception, the PSP system has quickly become the device of choice for portable entertainment. Whether it's games, music, movies photos or Internet access, no other portable media device provides as much functionality and entertainment as the PSP system," says John Koller, Senior Product Manager, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "PSP Media Manager software enables consumers to easily manage and move their favorite media from their PC to their PSP. The PSP system, coupled with the new PSP Media Manager software, provides a complete solution for truly enjoying the PSP system's portable entertainment capabilities."
