PSP Heads To Europe In September News

At long last Sony confirms a release date and a price for the PSP...
Itâs been a very long time coming but at last there is a confirmed European date and price for the PSP. In a statement Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that the hand-held console, which is already on sale in North America and Japan, will be launched in Europe on September 1st 2005 for £179 (249 Euros).
SCEE's press release states that following in the footsteps of the US launch, the PSP will be released as the Value Pack, which includes a 32MB memory stick, earphones, a charger, and a multimedia demo disc. Early orders placed via yourpsp.com will also receive the UMD-Video of Spiderman2, like the early PSP owners Stateside.
Commenting on the news SCEE President David Reeves said, âPlayStation Portable will revolutionise portable entertainment, giving users the freedom to play full 3D games, watch movies, listen to music and connect wirelessly on their terms, wherever and whenever they wish to do so...More than ever, todayâs consumer demands access to their personal entertainment outside the home, without compromising quality. It was recently reported that an announcement on the PSPâs arrival in Europe would be made in the next few weeks, but it had been assumed that it would come at E3 next month. Speculation has mounted in recent weeks as to when the PSP would launch in Europe with suggestions that it could come anywhere from June 2005 to December 2005 â“ by sheer chance (or perhaps not?) the actual release date falls right in the middle of those two extremes.
