Oops we almost forgot about this what with Link...
It was certainly a case of sounding their own success for Sony, as the Japanese electronics giant finally lifted the lid on the finalised design for the PSP.
Looking closely similar to the concept model released last year, the PSP comes in a black colour with a 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD screen. The dimensions are a surprisingly big 170mm x 74mm x 23mm with a weight of 230g.
With connectivity of paramount importance to the PSP, the unit comes equipped with a variety of connectors such as USB 2.0 and 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless LAN connectivity, providing the scope to connect to a variety of devices including the Playstation2, PSX and PC. Gamers can expect to play against each other via an on-line connection or by connecting multiple PSPs to each other, directly via the wireless network. In addition, data can be stored through a USB or wireless network onto a MemoryStick Pro Duo.

Sony confirmed that 99 developers and publishers have expressed their support for the format (Japan 34, America 24, Europe 31, S Korea 10), whilst many inquiries have allegedly been made from the music and movie industries to support the UMD format. To this extent Kaz Hirai CEO SCEA, demonstrated both a clip from Spider-Man 2 and a trailer for Final Fantasy: Advent Children â“ both of which he claims will be released on UMD alongside DVD.
A variety of games were demonstrated during the presentation, including the likes of Frogger PSP, Ape Escape, WipeOut, Armoured Core, Metal Gear Acid, Formula One, ATV Offroad Fury, NHL, Spider-Man 2, Medieval, Gran Turismo 4, Ridge Racer and many more.
Sadly Mr. Hirai refused to elaborate on exact price or release details, suggesting that these will come at a later date.
Weâll have more coverage on the PSP and the titles mentioned so far soon.
