PS3 Still Lagging Behind In US News

Next-gen console sales figures for November place the PS3 at the bottom of the pile and Wii atop it, as usual...
NPD figures for US console sales in November have been released, revealing the same hierarchy that has been present for most of the year. With 981,000 units sales the Wii topped the list as usual, although sales of Xbox 360's certainly weren't "way off" outselling the PS3 by two to one, as Sony claimed last month (figures taken from an MCV report).
Last month, Microsoft claimed that during November's Black Friday week (November 19th to 25th), the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 by two to one. Sony Computer Entertainment America quickly responded by saying, "Microsoft's estimates of our PS3 unit sales numbers are way off and they did not outsell PS3 2:1 during Black Friday week."
Sony reminded commentators at this point that it was not their policy to release sales numbers until official NPD figures were released. Now that the NPD figures have been released, they show 466,000 PS3 unit sales compared to the Xbox 360's 770,000 during November. That leaves a ratio of 1:1.7 of PS3 to Xbox 360 sales.
Given that Microsoft claims to have sold 310,000 of these Xbox 360's during Black Friday week alone, it seems they may not have been that far of their initial PS3 comparisons, regardless of how much SCEA protested to the contrary.
While PS3 sales have finally picked up in Japan, outselling the Wii throughout November, US sales are still failing to pick-up over a year after launch. Even with recent price slashes, these new NPD figures show that Sony is still struggling to entice US consumers to their next-gen machine.
