Sony reaches the 2 million mark a couple of weeks later then expected, shortage issues eased...


Following rapidly after achieving one million shipments across North America, Sony Computer Entertainment today confirmed that the milestone has also been achieved throughout Japan. Just over two months since the next-generation format launched in the territory, the announcement marks Sony meeting the two million mark that it had hoped to achieve before the end of 2006.

Further details from the announcement reveal that the higher spec 60GB model has sold in the highest numbers, though Sony refused to mention a specific breakdown. Over five million game titles have also been shipped across the world, with Insomniac Games' Resistance: Fall of Man becoming a favourite amongst early adopters.

Regarding the PlayStation Network service, Sony confirmed that approximately 500,000 accounts have been registered since the service went live, and just under 300,000 downloads since Gran Turismo HD was made available across the service.

Why do people say its ffVII sequel!!! If you read the initial story it says it has nothing to do with ffV11 and its not an RPG!! Chances are there is no big announcement and it was a big joke!!
