Everybody's Golf 5 bundle gives the console a leg-up...
PlayStation 3 sales in Japan have more than doubled in the past week, according to sales figures from Japanese firm Media Create for the week ending July 29th. This means that the PS3 outsold the PS2 for the week, something it's struggled to achieve since it launched across Japan back in November 2006.
A probable reason for this doubling of sales could be the release of Everybody's Golf 5 on the PS3, which was also released in a bundle with the next-gen system. Everybody's Golf 5 sold 152,379 copies in total last week, which placed it second on Media Create's game chart behind Wii's Mario Party 8.
There was only one other PS3 title in the top 50 (Gulf Midnight at 18th) for the week ending July 29th, supporting the idea that the PS3's success in Japan was down to the bundled release of Everybody's Golf 5. However, the Nintendo Wii continued to outsell the PS3 by a considerable margin of just under three to one.
