Sony cuts the cost and adds new features to make PS3 development more appealing...


In an attempt to stem the draining lack of support from publishers and developers, Sony has cut the cost of a PS3 development kit buy up to half the original cost.

Next-Gen reports that The PlayStation Reference Toolkit will now be available for 950,000 yen in Japan, $10,250 in North America, and 7,500 euros across Europe. In addition, Sony has responded to calls that developing on the PS3 is a tricky beast to tame, adding new software features to the kit, along with debugging tools, and added support for applications such as ProDG and its SN tool-suite.

Whether or not the move will entice developers and publishers to begin pushing the PlayStation3 and creating the exclusive titles Sony wants remains to be seen, however it should at the very least open up PS3 development to smaller studios.

It's Final Fantasy VII sequel. That date is the same time as scheduled Square Enix DKS3713 August 2nd/3rd.

this a good thing over 9 yrs it will happen folk wiil soon tire of wii's and the xbox(which is nearly all shooters, fun 4 a while, but ps3 does more in all ways
