Reports from the US suggest that Sony has 'pleaded' with studio for future support of PlayStation 3...


Whilst everyone else was busy dissecting the latest hardware/software sales figures from North America at the end of last week, San Jose Mercury News' Dean Takahashi has pointed towards unconfirmed reports that Sony executives have been 'pleading' with third-party developers to continue supporting PlayStation 3.

According to Takahashki, developers have been focusing their efforts on pushing titles for Wii (cue mini-game compilations in the coming twelve months then), which require smaller production teams. Sony's suggested behaviour is in direct contrast to reports from earlier in the year that stated former executive Ken 'Father of PlayStation' Kutaragi failed to take calls from Rockstar and Ubisoft to make Assassin's Creed and GTA IV platform exclusives. Both titles are subsequently due for release simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

If the reports are accurate, then the meetings are the latest in an 'about turn' in Sony's strategy, following the launch of a stripped down 40GB PlayStation 3.

i own a ps3. infact i just came off playing it. for methe ps3 is gd for about 1hour, than i get bored and dnt go on it agen until the next day. there is nothing dat can keep me interested in the ps3. the games and pure love e, online always glithche... [ Read full comment... ]

this a good thing over 9 yrs it will happen folk wiil soon tire of wii's and the xbox(which is nearly all shooters, fun 4 a while, but ps3 does more in all ways
