PS3 Bananna Pad Scrapped [UPDATE] News

Playstation3 demonstrations played with what appears to be an old silver PS2 joypad...
Keen to promote the fact that the Playstation3 is very much playable at this year's E3, Sony's conference intriguingly revealed that demonstrations were being played with an old Silver PS2 Dualshock controller.
Whether or not this suggests Sony has scrapped the ill-fated "Banana" controller in light of the tried-and-trusted Playstation controller remains to be seen, however we very much suspect Immersion will have something to say if the copyright infringing technology continues to play a part with the Playstation3.
[UPDATE] So out with the boomerang, and in with a controller that implements X, Y, and Z-axis together with yaw, roll, and lateral motion detection...sound familiar? Whilst it certainly seems that Sony might be out to steal Nintendo's thunder, there does remain the question as to what extent the feature will be implemented in their titles. At the presentation, Warhawk was demonstrated with the motion control in action to control the vehicle was made, leaving no question as to the level of immersion offered by the feature.
The unveiling of the motion controller now shows that Nintendo's fears of either Sony or Microsoft following suit has been realised.
[UPDATE 2]
Further details on the Playstation3 pad reveals that the vibration feature that is available in the DualShock and DualShock 2 controllers will be removed from the controller. Despite Sony's claims that vibration will interfere with information detected by the sensor, there's probably more reason to be found in Sony's continuing legal battle with Immersion Corp over the use of the technology in previous controllers.
The shape of the L2/R2 buttons have been enlarged with increased depth to bring a greater degree of accuracy in games, and bring them closer to the shoulder triggers featured on Xbox pads.
Similar to the Xbox 360 pad, the controller will utilise a USB cable to charge the battery, which can be attached and detached at any time.
