Operation Flashpoint Interim Upgrade Now Available.
podemasters has released an interim upgrade for its best-selling Cold War military simulator Operation Flashpoint.
The upgrade is available for free download from the gameâs web site http://www.codemasters.com/flashpoint/ and improves many aspects of the game, offering such enhancements as accurate shadow casting for weapons and improved aircraft handling.
Players can also now include their own face on their in-game character. By following a template, players can create a custom texture file, calling it âface.jpgâ. By saving this file in the gameâs 'usersusername' folder and selecting 'custom' from the 'player' menu, the texture will appear in both single missions & multi-player.
As part of Codemastersâ anti-piracy initiative and its FADE system, the in-game counterfeit-protection software (see Notes), all upgrades for Operation Flashpoint will only work with legitimate production copies of the game.
All Operation Flashpointâs add-ons will auto-detect and ensure that an original copy of the game is being used. If an original copy of the game is not in place, the upgrade will refuse to activate.
This also applies to the multi-player server software, due to be launched on September 7th. Utilising a compatibility test, similar to the add-ons, online play via the dedicated servers will only be accessible to those with an original production copy of Operation Flashpoint.
