UK-based indie developer Blitz Games has today confirmed the creation of a new division, Blitz Arcade, with the aim creating digitally downloaded titles for next-gen systems.

With the success of Xbox Live Arcade, and both Sony and Nintendo following suit in the coming months, today's news means that Blitz follows the likes of Q? (Lumines Live) and NinjaBee (Cloning Clyde, Outpost Kaloki) in developing digitally distributed casual games. Three titles have already been developed by the division for a promotion Burger King in the US.

Philip Oliver, co-founder and CEO of Blitz Games commented, "We have always striven to provide a stable base as well as a wide variety of creative challenges for our staff and by launching Blitz Arcade we can continue to do both these things."

CTO Andrew Oliver commented, "We have a long track record of creating great gaming experiences for a variety of gamers and that, combined with the rise in casual gaming and new digital distribution methods, means that we are ideally placed to enter this arena."
