Did SEGA Europe reveal more than they should have about the deal to produce titles based on the Alien franchise?
Yesterday the publisher confirmed that at least two titles set in the Alien universe would be released from 2009 onwards (one an RPG, the other an FPS), but a disclaimer on the European website for the game listed two extra little details not mentioned in SEGA's press release - the two development studios involved.
According to the now removed disclaimer, the two studios will be Obsidian Entertainment (recent producers of Neverwinter Nights 2) and Gearbox (Brothers in Arms series); given the heritage of both studios, it's not difficult to determine which outfit is producing the RPG and which is creating the FPS...
It's a near-certainly that the Alien FPS will be developed with Unreal Engine 3 given Gearbox's decision to create its next-generation projects with Epic's technology.
SEGA confirmed back in March that they'd signed a deal with Obsidian Entertainment for an untitled RPG.
