Despite constant rumours of $50 price cuts across the pond, it seems that Microsoft is content with the cost of Xbox 360 here in Blighty...
Rumours of an impending Xbox 360 price cut have been circulating for some time now, the latest from the US even speculates that a drop of $50 could be coming as soon as next week - even though Microsoft has yet to officially confirm reports.
However, seemingly following in the footsteps of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Microsoft UK will not be following suit. Speaking to US-based Next-Gen, representatives from Microsoft "We're very happy with where were at the moment and have no plans to make any changes at this time."
News of the non-price cut comes on the same day that reports have emerged speculating on when the jump to manufacture 45-nanometer chips for the Xbox 360 will be made. In a statement, Chia Song Hwe, President of Charted Semiconductor, the company behind the Xbox 360 chips said: "As 65nm just started production in the last two quarters, you would expect 45nm to [begin production] about 18 months from that timeframe."
At least the manufacture of smaller chips should lead to a price cut...at some point, eventually...
