No HDMI Support For Xbox 360...For Now News

Microsoft confirms to TVG that despite the Fall update, there are no plans to offer HDMI support for Xbox 360...
One of the big news stories of the week came courtesy of Microsoft, which announced that 1080p support will feature in the Fall Update for Xbox 360, bringing the console in line with Sony's perceptions of "True HD".
There was one question that was raised as a result of the surprising news: Was Microsoft planning to offer HDMI support for Xbox 360?
Memories of a photograph alleging to be of an Xbox 360 motherboard with HDMI port attached came flooding back, though when asked by TVG about the matter, one Microsoft representative said, "...at present the answer is no as HDMI support has not been confirmed at the moment."
So not even a "No Comment" - it's a pretty definitive answer, though the additional '...at the moment' may suggest that the possibility hasn't been entirely ruled out. It's actually worth nothing that HDMI is backwards compatible with the DVI standard, which can actually support resolutions of up to a whopping 3840 x 2400...so perhaps Microsoft doesn't feel the need to offer a port for the console.
