Nintedo are set to release a new GBA SP model based on the Famicon console...
Nintendo announced today that they will release a new Game Boy Advance SP model. The model will be based on the Famicom console, which is known in America and Europe as the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). This is the second time Nintendo have released a new model of the GBA SP as the first model was given out as exclusive prizes to celebrate the Famicomās 20th anniversary; with a limited run of only 4000 units, these have been selling for anything up to 50,000 yen (£258) on the black market.
Nintendo will be porting 10 games to the new Famicom GBA SP, which is to be known as the āFamicom Mini Seriesā. The games will consist of classic games from Nintendo, Hudsonsoft, and Namco, including such titles as Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, Excitebike, The Legend of Zelda, Pac-Man, Xevious, Mappy, Bomberman, and Star Solider.
The games will be exact ports of the NES counterparts, whilst link-up functionality has been added for those with multiplayer aspects.
The Famicon is for release in Japan on the 14th February, and weāll keep you up to date with all other information released about the SP and any games.
