Nintendo To Launch Blue DS In North America News

Nintendo of America announce that the first ‘colour’ DS will be launched Stateside this June...
Nintendo of America have today confirmed that the first ācolouredā Nintendo DS, Electric Blue, is set for release in North America in June 2005. The new colour provides an alternative choice for prospective DS owners from the standard āTitaniumā model. Nintendo launched multi-colour models in Japan at the beginning of March 2005, but Electric Blue didnāt feature in the Japanese line-up (although it does look suspiciously like the Pokemon DS).
"This eye-catching new color [sic] comes at an ideal time," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Nearly 2 million Nintendo DS owners in North America alone have demonstrated they want something new from a hand-held video game system. Soon, consumers will have two popular choices for the innovative dual-screened Nintendo DS, which features touch-screen control, voice recognition and wireless play."
The news of the additional colour comes as NoA confirms a couple of new DS titles [gasp] with the release of Kirby: Canvas Curse on June 13th 2005 with the highly anticipated Meteos following a fortnight later on the 27th June 2005. The news is sure to please DS owners who have been experiencing a dry patch of releases ā“ visit the TVG forums if you donāt believe us. Thereās been no announcement about a European launch for the Electric Blue DS at the moment but with both Japanese and North American territories already set to receive them, the confirmation may not take too long to come.
