Nintendo To Dominate US Markets In June Figures News

Analysts predict that the Wii and DS will outsell their rivals by huge margins...
Predictions from market analysts Wedbush Morgan confirm wordwide sales figures which are showing that Nintendo is outselling its rivals so far in 2007 across Japanese, European and American regions.
Wedbush Morgan have forecast a landmark month of sales for Nintendo products across the US. Wedbush's Michael Patcher has suggested that the Wii will outsell the PS3 by a factor of four to one and double Xbox 360 figures, while the DS could more than double sales figures for the PSP.
Patcher made the following predictions ahead of the official NPD sales figures for June that will be released on July 23rd:
- Wii - 435,000
- PS3 - 100,000
- Xbox 360 - 200,000
- PS2 - 235,000
- PSP - 250,000
- DS - 550,000
Japanese sales figures from Media Create for the last week of June show a similar trend. They suggest sales of roughly 300,000 Wiis and an astonishing 600,000 DS Lites for the month. Additionally, the Wii sold over 20 times more units than the Xbox 360 and more than five times the amount that the PS3 managed. The DS Lite sold nearly five times more successfully than the PSP:
- Wii - 73,919
- PS3 - 11,914
- Xbox 360 - 3,154
- PS2 - 16,316
- PSP - 38,305
- DS Lite - 157,435
In the UK a recent survey compiled by ELSPA and Chart-Track show the same patterns as figures in Japan and America. The Nintendo Wii has been responsible for over 50% of the market share in all home console sales throughout the first half of 2007, whereas Nintendo handhelds have taken a 72% portion of the market for the same period.
Returning to the US news, Pachter also commented concerning PS2 software sales that he expects numbers to be down just 19% over last year. He continued that this has been helped by the release of a number of strong PS2 titles over the last two months.
