Nintendo opens up a can of whoop-ass on Sony in Japan according to the latest sales figures from the Far East...
We all know how much the Japanese love all things Nintendo (and quite frankly who can blame them? - so do we) but judging by the latest sales figures from the territory, they really do love the company. According to the stats from Media Centre, All Format sales in Japan for the week ending December 25th has left Nintendo with seven titles in the top ten five of which for the DS with Mario Party 7 on GameCube and the latest Pokemon title on GBA. A similar tale is told in the hardware sales where the Nintendo DS outsold the PSP by just under four to one with sales of 597,628 compared to 167,332 for Sony's PSP.
The other three titles in the top ten are for PlayStation2 with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in eighth , Naruto: Narutimate Hero 3 in fourth, and Kingdom Hearts II taking the top spot.
With the Nintendo DS continuing to take Japan by storm with the Nintendo DS it's going to be interesting to see what Sony has planned for PSP in 2006; we'll have more news shortly...

most games you can play like a bare bones version with just one copy and 2/3 DS's, some you need a copy of the game each. like mariokart has a few courses and only one character for each person if you're sharing a catridge, but ... [ Read full comment... ]
