Nintendo DS Secrets??? News

By Chris Leyton on 29/09/2004 Forums set ablaze with revelations that the DS has one more surprise up its sleeves, leaving the rest of us to remember the MegaTon fiasco…

Details of various Nintendo press conferences have today filtered through, which are set to shed new details on the Nintendo DS and a specific line-up of launch titles. However if you’re willing to believe rumours and speculation, then something all together much more impressive is on the cards.

Trawling through the Warp Pipe forums, the talented team behind brining the GameCube online, reveals frantic threads that seem to suggest a major announcement regarding the Wi-Fi multiplayer is on the cards. Certainly the rampant speculation hasn’t been helped by the cryptic messages posted by senior members of the once banded bunch of hackers, who now appear to have established themselves and could possibly be working with Nintendo.

In particular constant references to the 15th century explorer Ferdinand de Magellan, who circumnavigated across the globe; certainly the more excitable followers of the situation have been quick to suggest that the Wireless multiplayer features of the Nintendo DS will extend way beyond what has already been talked about.

A selection if images have been passed around numerous forums, sending Nintendo fans into a ilovebees styled frenzy, however it should be worth remembering the fuss that surrounded the infamous “MegaTon” debacle. One particular image depicts a young lad playing a Nintendo DS in a forest, with a dog on a path a sort way in front of him – naturally the followers have been quick to suggest this is confirmation that Animal Forest DS will be playable via the Wireless connection.

At over 26 pages the forum thread on Warp Pipe has certainly degenerated into complete fanboy speculation; however we can’t help but think there may be something to this.

When pressed for a comment Nintendo confirmed that Press Conferences in both Japan and America are taking place during October, but refused to comment on exactly what would be revealed – for now we’d advise settling down a little and waiting to see what Nintendo has to say.

We’ll have more information soon.

Eh?  Game & Watch?  So I can only play one game ont he DS?  Beyond a similar style and look with the original DS, I'm not really sure where the comparison comes from.

I once owned a DS lite and spent many hours playing it. I think it is ideal for the younger gaming generation although for me personally the psp is far better. I think in comparrison to the psp the nintendo ds is slightly overpriced.
