Nintendo Announce 2 New Pokemon Games News

Nintendo announce two 'new' Pokemon GBA titles; however don't get too excited...

We heard the first whisperings of two new Pokemon titles in Japan late last week, however the rumours mentioned something about a âPokemon Redâ and a âPokemon Greenâ and so we dismissed this without paying much consideration â“ foolish us.

The first details of the two new titles became apparent today, as Nintendo confirmed the development of âPokemon Fire Redâ and âPokemon Leaf Greenâ; and yes you guessed it, in keeping with the recent remake trend sweeping through the industry, theyâre both remakes of the GameBoy originals.

You may remember that Nintendo make the strong claim before the games announcement of both titles being million+ sellers; a significantly bold claim considering the games are both remakes, however Western gamers are likely to benefit as âPokemon Greenâ was never originally released outside of Japan due to poor sales in the native region.

It should be noted that this policy of 'remakes' is a dangerous one for both Nintendo and the industry as a whole to take; in addition to the obvious 'cash-in' slurs, it's certainly a worrying sign to see a lack of innovation from the Big N.

Itâs believed that both of the new games will link-up with âPokemon Rubyâ and âPokemon Sapphireâ suggesting you can make use of the new âdual-characterâ fights, along with the forthcoming GameCube title âPokemon Colleseumâ â“ the latest title in the âPokemon Stadiumâ series.

Weâll have more details and the first screens soon.

Is there a way to catch Mew in this game? Without using a GameShark or any other cheating device?
