Former Just Add Monsters development studio confirms name change and future direction to TVG, alongside juicy details on their next-gen title...
Last monthâs demise of Argonaut was certainly a low point in the UK gaming industry, however the news that Jez San and fellow former directors of Just Add Monsters (JAM) had acquired the development subsidiary certainly softened the blow.
Today we received word of a name change and future direction for the talented developer behind the excellent Xbox action title, Kung Fu Chaos. Confirming to TVG that Jez San and other members had bought back the business, including all next-generation technologies, the Heavenly Sword intellectual property and the entire JAM team, the latest UK independent developer has been christened with the funky new title of Ninja Theory Ltd.
The new developer has risen from the ashes quite literally, and begins a new venture free from debt, fresh capital and a next-generation game that is causing a storm amongst those lucky enough to see it.
Development on Heavenly Sword began early in 2003, a full year or two before most developers had began to experiment with next-gen technology. Nina Kristensen now the Chief Development Ninja commented, âWe have gone through hell tackling the creative, technological and business challenges of next-gen game development. But weâve come out of the worst intact and it feels great to be a truly independent company once again.â
Tameem Antoniades, Chief Design Ninja explained, âWe made a strategic decision to start very early and craft a gaming experience worthy of the 'next-gen' moniker. We really want to make something pretty damn special rather than same old crap with shiny new graphics.â
Mike Ball, Chief Technology Ninja at Ninja Theory added, âIndustry insiders still tell us that there is still nothing out there that compares to the playable prototype we first showed them last May. I hope itâs true as it shows that a small determined team can still achieve big things.â
Weâll have more on Ninja Theory and Heavenly Sword soon.
