Twelve years after the abomination of the first movie, a Chun-Li focused flick has been proposed...
Videogame to movie adaptations have never fared particularly well, and one of the biggest bombs was the 1994 film, Street Fighter: The Movie, which can at best be described as laughable and at worst heretical.
Twelve years on, and it seems that Hollywood is about to give the Capcom franchise another shot. According to reports at Variety.com, Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom Ltd are currently in the process of developing a second film based on the beat-em-up, which will focus on the character of Chun-Li.
Set for release during 2008, further information is being kept held back, but it is known that Justin Marks has been secured to write the screenplay. Marks has previously written The Stranger, which starred Xander Berkeley and Steve Guttenberg (so that's what happened to him after Police Academy/Short Circuit/Cocoon/other 80s movies!)
We'll have to wait and see how this second attempt works out...
