The Star Wars saga continues in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice". The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III and Star Wars: Episode IV. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

The next-gen Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will also be unleashed on PlayStation2, PSP, and DS...

Previously announced for ambiguous 'next-generation' platforms, LucasArts has confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will also be heading to PlayStation2, PSP, and Nintendo DS.

The game, which is pencilled for release in North America this November, takes place between 2005's Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and the original 1977 Star Wars, and follows the story of Darth Vader's 'secret apprentice' on a journey to destroy the last isolated pockets of Jedi Knights.

According to the official website for the game, the character will be able to develop the four core Force powers (Force push, grip, repulse and lightning) through the course of the story, enabling the apprentice to combine them together - for instance using "Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb."

Like the upcoming Indiana Jones title, The Force Unleashed will be utilising NaturalMotion's Euphoria and Pixelux's Digital Molecular Matter technologies on the next-generation consoles, though the prospect that they'll fully feature in the current-gen/handheld editions is surely an unlikely one.
