Sony confirm TV schedule support for the forthcoming Home Entertainment system...
Kenji Matsuoka, the lead designer behind the Sony PSX has divulged some interesting details on the forthcoming Home Entertainment setup in a recent Japanese interview.
Matsuoka-san revealed that the PSX would make use of the G-Guide system, an electronic guide created by Gemstar to deliver station schedules four times a day.
The service is already offered by Gemstar in both America and Europe under the guise of âTV Guide On Screenâ and âGuide Plus+â respectively, suggesting that a similar system will be in place once the PSX reaches the Western market in 2004.
In addition Matsuoka-san claimed that his team are currently looking into the possibilities of including CDDB support to allow users to be able to automatically download song track-listings and album names to the PSX, and claimed that feedback from users would help to determine what additional features the PSX will contain.
Matsuoka-san closed the interview by claiming that production was running smoothly and that the PSX is on course to ship in Japan before the end of the year; weâll have more on the PSX soon.
