New PS3 Update Heading For Europe Tomorrow News

The Three Speech blog confirms the impending European release of the PlayStation3 firmware update...


The 'semi-official' PlayStation3 blog for Europe, Three Speech, has today confirmed that the version 1.90 firmware update will be arriving here from tomorrow.

Having already launched across Japan today, the latest update features a number of additions to the XMB and to the PS3's audio settings, including the ability to add backgrounds to the XMB and to change the upscaling settings for PlayStation and PlayStation2 games.

The full list of tweaks are:

  • Ability to rearrange games on the XMB

  • Option menu now includes "eject disk"

  • Press triangle to eject games/CDs/movies in the XMB

  • XMB backgrounds

  • Change the folder classification

  • Emoticons

  • Change CD output to 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz

  • Force 24Hz output for Blu-ray over HDMI

  • Change PS3 video settings in-game

  • "Bit Mapping" in the "Music Setting"

  • Save AVCHD type animations from a Memory Stick

  • Change settings like upscaling while playing PS and PS2 games

  • Add bookmarks

  • Web browser security function in the browser's tool section

  • Avatar moves during audio visual chat

this a good thing over 9 yrs it will happen folk wiil soon tire of wii's and the xbox(which is nearly all shooters, fun 4 a while, but ps3 does more in all ways

lol just how does sony expect the ps3 to sell more than the ps2 is a bit dumb considering the ps2 is still selling bucket loads across the world and with 120 more titles expected to hit the ps2 this year is it a real objective to shift over 140 milli... [ Read full comment... ]

not true. mine jumped 50 to 100 and i have had no problems since the update. i just hope that theres patches coming out for trophies soon...
