The Xbox 360 version gets ten extra tracks when it arrives in North America in March.

According to reports from across the pond, Activision and Red Octane will be confirming new details on the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II later day, though some details have already been leaked, including news of a North American release date during March.

Ten tracks have apparently been added to the library of songs that made an appearance on the PlayStation2 version towards the end of last year, with French-based Jeux France listing eight:

  • Pearl Jam - ' Life Wasted'

  • Rick Derringer - ' Rock'n'roll Hoochie Koo'

  • My Chemical Romance - ' Dead!'

  • Deep Purple - ' Hush'

  • Alice Cooper - ' Billion Dollar Baby

  • Toadies - ' Possum Kingdom'

  • Rancid - ' Salvation'

  • Iron Maiden - ' The Trooper'

North American-based Joystiq is also reporting that gamers will be able to download tracks from the original Guitar Hero via Xbox Live Marketplace, and that additional songs will be made available post-release.

wireless guitars should be available with gh3 in the near future. until then, i still enjoy the game. Ive just earned 5 stars on jordan and freebird, even with a wired guitar.

So let me get this right...

I pay £69.99 (RRP) for Guitar Hero 2 on 360 (without wireless), and then probably have to pay another £40 to get the superior line-up of the original...

Activision should have had all the original tracks ... [ Read full comment... ]
