Activision confirms that some of the new CoD2 maps will be on show at E3 ahead of their late spring release...
Activision has today confirmed that several new multiplayer maps for Call of Duty 2 will be available to demo at next weeks E3 ahead of a planned late spring release (in order words expect them by the end of the month.) Nine maps will be released by the end of July, with the first four expected in the next few weeks.
Two of the four (Vossenack and Wallendar, Germany) will form the Bonus Map Pack and will be free to download whilst the remaining two (Kalach, Russia and Beaumont-Hague, France) will be available as the Skirmish Map Pack and will cost 400 Microsoft Points on the Marketplace. The remaining five maps, the so-called Invasion Pack, which will include Antoville, France (Crossroads), St. Louet, France (Newvillers), Amaye sur Seulles, France, (Normandy), Alam Halfa, Egypt (Decoytown), and Rostov, Russia (Harbor) will cost 900 Microsoft Points to download later in the summer.
"Fans have made Call of Duty 2 the best-selling next-gen title and these maps are a great way to expand upon the hallmark epic scope and cinematic intensity that they've come to expect from the franchise," said Grant Collier, President of Infinity Ward. "What better way to get the action to gamers than to release the first of the maps directly to them at E3!"
