The developers of XBLA title Outpost Kaloki X signed to bring Kaloki-esque title to Wii...
Namco Bandai Games has signed a deal with Utah-based developer Wahoo Studios to produce Space Station Tycoon for Wii. The studio has already worked on a number of titles for Xbox Live Arcade, most notably Cloning Clyde and Outpost Kaloki X.
Confirming the title in an interview with IGN, both Namco Bandai and Wahoo revealed that the title won't be a direct spin-off or sequel to the XBLA title; instead, it will consolidate and build on what Kaloki X has achieved to date:
"The basic goal of building a station to serve customers and some of the economic elements will be very familiar to players of Outpost Kaloki X, but even the basic mechanics, like how customers make their buying decisions, have undergone an overhaul," explained Jeremy Throckmorton of Wahoo Studios.
"Space Station Tycoon is not a port of Outpost Kaloki X in any way. It is a full-featured Wii title developed for Namco Bandai Games, so none of the content is from Outpost Kaloki X."
It was also confirmed that the title will make use of the Wii-remote controller, allowing players to have total control over the construction of the space stations.
Namco Bandai Games aims to release the title in North America during the summer; expect details on the European release in the future.
