Games division posts increases despite drop in units sold across the group as a whole...
Namco Bandai Holdings has today released its financial results for the third quarter of the financial year, which ended on December 31st 2006. The Holdings Company also confirmed figures for the first nine months of the year.
Net sales for the third quarter dropped from 126.52 billion Yen (£534.0 million) to 123.88 billion Yen (£522.9 million) on the year; operating income also fell from 18.05 billion Yen (£76.2 million) to 14.97 billion Yen (£63.2 million), along with net income, which dropped by 1 billion Yen (£4.2 million) to 9.88 billion Yen (£41.7 million).
For the nine month results, Namco Bandai recorded drops in both net sales (down 4.3%) and operating income (down 9.5%), standing at 330.52 billion Yen (£1.40 billion) and 32.24 billion Yen (£136.1 million) respectively, whilst net income rose by 12.3% to 19.89 billion Yen (£84.0 million).
Despite net sales, operating income, and net income all dropping across the group as a whole, Namco Bandai's Game Division recorded slight increases for the three-month period. Net sales for the quarter stood at 43.22 billion Yen (£182.5 million), up from 41.19 billion (£173.9 million) in the same period last year. Operating income also rose slightly, from 5.27 billion Yen (£22.2 million) to 7.73 billion Yen (£32.6 million).
Projected results for the full fiscal year, which end of March 31st 2007, has net sales standing at approximately 460.00 billion Yen (£1.94 billion), with operating and net incomes expected to reach 40.00 billion (£168.9 million) and 23.50 billion Yen (£99.2 million) respectively.
The Holdings Company confirmed that global sales of its software titles in the first nine months of the 2007 fiscal year dropped quite significantly, from 21.2 million units in 2006, to 16.62 million units.
