A weekend newspaper report suggests the troubled UK publisher is once again targeted...
A report in The Sunday Telegraph alleges that NBC Universal, Microsoft, and Sony are all interested in acquiring a stake or forming a joint venture with troubled publisher SCi Entertainment and subsidiary Eidos.
Having watched its share price tumble by 90% in the last six months, SCi became the subject of acquisition talks from three unannounced parties last year. Rumoured to include Ubisoft at the time, The Sunday Telegraph notes that NBC Universal were believed to be one of the interested parties.
Further still, The Sunday Telegraph reports that SCi are running out of funds and needs to generate close to £55 million in new capital. Following poor recent financials, the publisher announced significant restructuring plans involving the reduction of 25% of its workforce along with the cancellation of 14 projects deemed not likely to generate a profit.
