Rumours suggest that Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation may be close to buying the UK publisher...
After stipulating a while back their intentions to enter the videogames market, rumours today suggest that Rupert Murdochâs gargantuan News Corporation may be close to a takeover deal with UK publisher, Eidos. There have been various reports over the past 12 months that a whole host of companies have been vying for Eidos, although talks seem to have broken down with several interested parties.
Today though, Gamesindustry.biz have been reporting that a News Corp/Eidos deal is imminent, although the report does stress quite heavily that the speculation was âlargely unsubstantiated.â
If the rumour proves to be authentic and the deal does go ahead, it will mean that the multimedia conglomerate, which includes such luminary companies as 20th Century Fox, The Times, and BSkyB, will also be in control of franchises including Deus Ex, Hitman, and of course, Tomb Raider.
