Motion Sickness For Wii Carbon ??? [UPDATE] News

Could EA be looking at one of the first generic Wii titles around...

The latest round of rumours to hit the Wii blogs has suggested that the recently announced Need for Speed Carbon may fail to take advantage of Nintendo's next home console.

From information allegedly stemming from a Game Informer interview, it's believed that Need for Speed Carbon won't take advantage of WiiConnect24 and will not feature online play.

Of more concern is the suggestion that the game's developers are uncertain of the game's ability to take advantage of the Wii remote, suggesting that fatigue and sensitivity issues are the reasons behind such decisions - perhaps they didn't get to play Excite Truck all that much!

Now forgive us for being slightly cynical here, but surely if any genre seems suited to the motion capabilities of Wii then it's the racing genre; are EA approaching Wii development with the same lack of creativity that has become characteristic of many of their titles for the Nintendo DS, is it really that hard to mimic a steering wheel with the Wii remote???

EA were unavailable to comment on the rumour at the time of press; look out for an update on the situation soon.

[UPDATE]

Responding to questions surrounding the fate of Need for Speed Carbon on the Nintendo Wii, EA representatives told TVG, "We are looking at ways we can utilize the Wii controller but nothing is confirmed at the moment."

So it seems the jury is still out on this one at present, for now we wouldn't give up hope that Need for Speed Carbon will employ the Wii remote in some form; however, the failure to address online play seems to suggest Wii fans will have a solitary experience to begin with.

Look out for further information on Need for Speed Carbon soon.
